Kindergarten Teacher

Hello My name is Rebecca, and I am the Kindergarten teacher at Sugar Maple Nature School. My passion for teaching young children originates from the desire to nurture young emerging skills by empowering their independence, guiding them to identify their feelings and encouraging them to be their best through positive reinforcement and fostering cooperative learning opportunities. I’m committed to supporting students’ in the 5 domains of development to their fullest potential. Solid foundational skills in Kindergarten promote students to thrive academically and socially as these life long skills evolve. I strive to create a strong sense of community and work together in our nature based environment.

My educational background includes early childhood development from Lakeshore Technical College, and a Bachelor degree in Elementary /Middle School Education from Lakeland University.

In addition to spending time with my family, my personal time is often spent enjoying the local natural resources, hiking trails, visiting parks, and swimming in lakes. with my daughter and our dog,Ted. He keeps us actively exploring many areas like the Parnell Tower, The Sheboygan Marsh Tower, Meyer Park, and Walla Hi Park. Summers include teaching summer school, light gardening, and lots of sunshine.

My prior work experience includes 7 years working in special education for K-4th grades, teaching kindergarten for UMOS, and starting a preschool and directing a before and after school program for an area school district,and 6 years experience with birth to 3 as an early childhood specialist.
